What is an Emergency Kit?

An Emergency Kit is something you can ‘set and forget’ until you need it in an emergency. This means that items included do not need maintenance or replacing within 12 months of packing. 

Other essential items are things that you use in your day-to-day life, but you will need to take in an emergency (like your phone, wallet and medications). It is critical to keep a list of these items with your Emergency Kit.

Being prepared early means you can pack more!

The safest option is to leave before a bushfire emergency. If you have an Emergency Kit ready to go, not only will you get to safety more quickly and easily, but you will have had time to pack more of the items you need. Remember: you may be away from home for 2-3 days, so allow yourself time to pack some creature comforts.
