Using Fire Outdoors

Sometimes unnecessary burns and small fires that were lit with good intentions can escape and become large bushfires.

As the weather gets warmer, people like to get outdoors and enjoy activities such as camping, working outside, cooking and entertaining – all of which have potential to cause a bushfire.

Ensure you know what and when you can burn by getting familiar with the TFS Using Fire Outdoors guide

ALWAYS register your
burn with the

Conducting a burn safely on your property is another way to prepare for the bushfire season and can help to reduce your risk. It is always important to register your burn with TFS. By doing so, you are keeping yourself and your property safe, and helping your local fire brigade.
Every year in Tasmania, TFS responds to calls for unregistered burns. This puts unnecessary workload on the volunteers, who are already contributing their valuable time to keep their communities safe.
REMEMBER: Your fire is your responsibility.
